- The app collects nothing.
- This website doesn’t use cookies at the moment.
- We only use customer data for your rental and to help you.
Who we are
Shelby Lights is a trade name of Sander & Sander Co. B.V., Hoefblad 42, 4102 JR Culemborg, the Netherlands (Chamber of Commerce no. 97178233). We are responsible for processing personal data as described in this privacy policy. Questions? Email info@shelbylights.nl.
The Shelby Lights app
You use the app to control your hologram. The app needs no account, shows no ads and uses no analytics or tracking services.
- Only your own network. The app talks directly to your hologram over your Wi-Fi. No data is sent to us or to anyone else.
- Photos and videos. The app only sees the photo or video you choose. It is converted on your phone and then sent straight to your hologram. We never receive your images.
- What stays on your phone. The app stores the names of your holograms, small preview images of what you’ve uploaded, a few settings (for example, that you’ve seen the safety rules) and a technical log file in case something goes wrong. All of this stays on your phone. If you delete the app, this is deleted too.
Permissions
- Local Network (iPhone) and Nearby devices (Android): to find your hologram on your Wi-Fi.
- Photos and videos: to choose an image you want to put on the hologram.
- Location (Android 10 and later): Android requires it to search for devices on your Wi-Fi. The app does not use or store your location.
Customers and contact
If you are a customer or get in touch with us, we process the data we need for that:
- your name, and your business name if you rent as a business
- email address and phone number
- the address where we install the hologram, and your billing address
- invoice and payment details and, for business customers, details such as your VAT number
- the content of your messages to us
We do this to carry out your rental agreement, install the hologram, help you with questions and faults, invoice you and meet legal obligations such as keeping tax records.
We do this because it is necessary for our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), because the law requires it, such as the tax retention obligation (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR), and, if you are not yet a customer or for server logs, on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering your question and keeping the website secure (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Material for your visuals and photos at installation
- Material for your visuals. Logos, photos, videos and text you send us so we can make visuals for you. These may also show people. We only use this material to make your visuals and put them on your hologram (Article 9 of the rental terms). We only show them as an example on our website or social media if you give us written permission in advance.
- Photos at installation, inspection and maintenance. When we install the hologram, we take photos of it for the handover form. At an inspection or repair, we record the cover, the mounting and the power supply with a photo (Articles 5 and 7 of the rental terms). We photograph the hologram and the spot around it, not the people there. You receive a copy of the handover form and the photos.
- Photos and videos of a fault that you send us, so we can see what is wrong.
We do this because it is necessary to carry out our rental agreement with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). We keep the handover form and the photos for a while after the rental ends, because we may need them if a question or claim about the installation or safety comes up later (legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Who do we share data with?
Only with parties we need in order to help you, such as our accounting software for invoices, our email and phone providers and the company that hosts this website. We only work with parties that comply with the GDPR. We never sell data to anyone.
If you message us on WhatsApp, WhatsApp (Meta) processes that message under its own terms. Some of these parties are (also) based outside the EU. In that case the safeguards required by the GDPR apply, such as the EU standard contractual clauses.
How long do we keep data?
| Invoices and payment details | 7 years (legal retention requirement). |
|---|---|
| Contact details and messages, including photos and videos of a fault | up to 2 years after our last contact or after your rental ends. |
| Material for your visuals | until your rental ends. We then delete your visuals from the hologram and delete the material you sent us. |
| Handover form and photos from installation, inspection and maintenance | up to 5 years after your rental ends. |
This website
At the moment this website uses no cookies, no analytics tools and no advertising trackers, and it stores nothing in your browser. Fonts, images and videos are served from our own server. Like every web server, our hosting provider keeps technical log files (such as IP addresses) to keep the website secure and available. We do not use them to track you.
If we start using cookies or trackers later on, for example to measure how our adverts perform, we will ask for your consent first and update this privacy policy before we start.
Your rights
You can always ask which data we hold about you, and ask us to correct, delete or transfer it, or to restrict how we use it. You can also object to its use. Email info@shelbylights.nl; we reply within one month. Not happy with how we handle your data? You can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Changes
If we change this privacy policy, you’ll see it in the date at the top of this page.
